General Steps in Becoming a PA:

1. Obtain a Bachelor's Degree in any field! No field is preferred when applying for PA school, but the sciences may help you complete the mandatory prerequisites to get in.

2. Get experience in the medical field and perform hours of patient care, health care, and community service! The more hours you complete, the more prepared you will be for PA school and for the career.

3. Some PA programs may require you to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), so be sure to take it before the application cycle begins!

4. Fill out and submit the Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA) in order to apply for PA schools.

5. Complete approximately two years in an accredited PA program (ARC-PA).

6. Graduate from a PA program and take the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) to become licensed!

7. Congratulations! Now you are ready to go into any speciality as a PA-C!!!
